Ok so this could be a really stupid question but im still doing some research.

Whats the difference from the HD63C series microcontroller and a comparable microcontroller from Atmel?

I know that may seem rather random. but my end goal is to make my own controller, or try to make my own controller that is like a andover controls controller, or allerton or invensys, and im looking at some of the chips they use. and im just wondering what the difference is there between that hitache i meantioned and a AVR of similar status.

Download the data sheets and make the comparison. You'll find the biggest consideration is the cost and flexibility of the programmer.

 

I suppose i could have worded my question better but thanks. i'll do some more reading. Just was a very long monday.
