So I got this toy gun, a nerf machine gun, and (see the pictures) when I pull the trigger the two ballistic motors spin intermittently, on 1 sec, off 1 sec, on-off-on-off.....
That ain't all. Each of these motors has only ONE wire connection. W. T. F?
The little circuit board for each motor has a PTC fuse on it, so I held the trigger while shorting the PTC with a screwdriver. Didn't help. I seen all kinds of motors. Nuthin like this. 20211003_190247.jpg20211003_184810.jpg20211003_184827.jpg20211003_184840.jpg

This is a standard DC motor. The motor is directly soldered to two points on the PCB.
The connection you see to the motor is to the casing of the motor for shielding.

.... oh... yeah. well i still have this problem of the intermittent operation. it's constantly going on-off-on-off...
i tried shorting the PTC with a screwdriver, no luck. And the motors are in lock step, both going on and off at the same time.

How is it supposed to work? Are the motors supposed to spin all the time the trigger is depressed?
Is there anything else connected in circuit other than the trigger and batteries?

yes they are supposed to spin continuously and yes there is also a feeder motor to move the little foam balls to the shot motors. In the photo below, i'm assuming that the brown and blue (looks black in the pic) are ground and the yellow and red are 9V. And that's it. The only parts not shown are the triggers and a... uhh.... whadyacall, one of those cut-off resistors that open up when there's a short. A resettable fuse? But i measured the V down-circuit from the fuse. The 9V was there. I even tried shorting across the fuse with a screwdriver. No go. Tried shorting all 3 of those PTCs. nuthin20211003_190738.jpg20211003_185259.jpg
