Yeah the influx of kits like the one from HF kind of made security screws irrelevant.

Do you have any extra hex/Allen keys? You could even take a Dremmel tool to one of them to make a DIY bit.
But I can't imagine only having 1 bit of any type.

Well now that you mention it, i may have extra bits like that because i have another set, a very cheap set, that i would not mind experimenting with. I have done things like this before and i would not mind experimenting with that set so maybe i will give this a try. Would be nice to be able to save those screws too then i could put the exact same ones back in. I always like using the exact parts when putting something back together.

I think you said these are sheet metal screws. Have you tried using a straight blade driver? One that fits ! of the slots and butts up against the hollow side opposite of that slot. Many times sheet metal screws are not as hard to remove as a machine screw is. Over the years I have use flat drivers(very small ones ) to fit a worn out Philips screw to remove it.

I guess it is worth a shot as long as it does not harm the screw head.
The screws are screwed into plastic which sometimes can hold strong so a test is in order.
I'll have to see if i have a flat blade driver that can fit the slots as well as inside the 'hole'.
Some grinding might be necessary

Why put that type screw back in? Get one that is the same type and size thread with a normal head type and use it when reinstalling.
