What is this Fairchild component?

It looks like a transistor with EBC leads. The emitter lead has been clipped and the component is the base-collector junction of the transistor.

It would help if you told us what is the equipment and also show a larger view of the circuit board.

Hi MrChips, my colleague asked me about it. How could I find the Part Name of this Fairchild component? Thanks in advance.

Why does your colleague want to know that? We don't know the part number. Nothing shows up on the web. It could be an in-house number.
What is the likelihood that there is nothing wrong with the component?
It looks like it could be used as a voltage bias or temperature controller.
If we knew the application and saw the circuit board we would have a better idea of its function.

Hi MrChips, we compared 2 identical boards and found this component knocked off (missing). We need to find the Part Name and replace with new part. Thanks in advance.

You can remove the component and measure with a DMM on diode setting. Measure in both directions.

We cannot give you any more advice until we see the whole board and know what is the equipment.
