What is the parameters are considered while selecting the TVS ( Transzobe).

For example, I want to protect 3.3 V Line with 18 KV ESD.( Test voltage 18 KV, Rise time 1 nSec, Discharge Resistance 330 Ohm)
Operating Voltage: 3.3 V
Operating Voltage Range: 1.8 to 3.6 V
Can you please explain the mathematical calculation.
What is the clamping Voltage ?
What is break down voltage ?
What is the Nominal voltage or Reverse working voltage ?
What is the Power rating of TVS ?

What is the clamping Voltage ?
When it starts "acting like" a Zener diode/

=What is break down voltage ?
This is similar to PIV of a regular diode. It's non-destructive when current limited. It ceases acting like a diode and acts more like a short/

What is the Nominal voltage or Reverse working voltage ?
The guaranteed value.

What is the Power rating of TVS ?
Unlie a Zener diode, the Zener voltage is not 100% controlled. A Zener may be rated in Watts or Mw. The TVS is designed to act on a spike, and the surge rating is higher and there may be a time component.

Hello Keeplisimple

My question is little bit different.....
I want to protect 3.3 V Line from 18 KV ESD.
ESD Spec is : Level Voltage 18 KV, Rise time 1 nSec, Discharge Resistance is 330 Ohm
Operating Voltage : 3.3 V
Operating Voltage Range: 1.8 to 3.8 V
For this i am selected transzobe having ..
Clamping volyage: 10 V
Break down voltage : 6 V
Reverse working voltage: 5.5 V
Max Peak Power : 90 W for 1 mSec
Avg Power: 2 W
Whether selected transzobe is suitable for our applications.
Can explain the mathematical calculations
