What are the parameters that I should take into consideration when replacing a MOSFET?

Hi,

I found an IRL630 Power MOSFET (datasheet attached) which is shorted, so I have to replace it. However, I dont' have the same one. I have STP16NS25 and BUZ31LH (Datasheets attached). I wonder if they could be useful. IRL630 has VDS=200V, the same as STP16NS25 and BUZ31LH.

1. Basic type, N or P
2. Voltage rating
3. Current ratings
4. Size and pinout
5. Logic level or regular

Once you filter on those characteristics, there are usually only a handful of choices. If the application is nothing unusual, ie frequency below 100kHz, that’s pretty much it. At high frequency, there are additional considerations such as gate capacitance.
