I wish I could find the local climate data for last night as we got really blasted for several hours with high winds and rain slashing back and forth, non-stop thunder although the only lightning flashes were coming from the "once again" shorted 3 phase high line in front of the house. Add to that some crazy air pressures going up and down trying to rip the roof off the house and of course several more hours of power outage. Weather Warning was for "Extreme Thunderstorm Conditions" and they were most certainly every bit of that and haven't had a storm that extreme in quite a while! It gave Helene a run for her money. I was proud of my antennas as I could see the verticals and wire antennas from sun room standing tall. That is, until I looked around at all the limbs and trees down this morning. The Par end fed SWL sloper for the IC-R75 had its Balun ripped apart when some major wood got dropped on it. Ah, well... I've got a spare 49:1 low power balun so it can be fixed, again. Most are still standing and the pipe towers survived! The propane dealer is scheduled to install the 500 Gal. tank for the generator on the 10th so "hopefully" our monthly power outages will be history soon.

 

Such storms do happen occasionally. We have had a couple of them this year, and several that missed us by just a few miles. We hhad quie a few of them when I lived just outside of New Orleans, back before 1970.
