Very simple digital clock

Hai all; i am new here and find it really useful to visit the forums.
I want to make a very simple digital clock (displays only mins and seconds)+ stopwatch project.
Can any of u people plz help me out by giving circuit diagram or some guideline

Is this a software project or a digital system project? If it's software, what language are you using? if it's digital system and you need a refresher, start with the interactive circuits on http://www.teahlab.com/; you can play with the circuits or what the short videos.

Be a bit more specific. You know more about your project than the rest of us: so share a little.

When you say "I have to buy IC's and breadboard to make it" it sounds like a homework project... is it or is it just for fun?

actally making this clock and showing it to the instructor has 10% weightage in the final result.u may call it a graded homework :)
 
You really don't want to build this from scratch. Even a simple toggle flipflop may take 15 mins to build if you know what you are doing (http://www.teahlab.com/multivibrators/toggle/tjksrmasterslaveff.html).

Now ICs come at all levels of complexity; so we need to know how much work your professor expects from you.

If you really have to build this yourself, then the toggle flipflop can count your seconds for you for example. And you can use a network of multivibrators (http://www.teahlab.com/multivibrators/multivibrator.html) to correlate your minutes to 60 seconds.

You could also buy multipliers (or ALUs), but multipliers take a lot of time to build if you have to use basic gates. Or you can buy full-adders (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oObT4dIZ9xg) to create your multipliers. The possibilities are many. So tell us, how much of the work is your professor expecting to be really yours?

ok now i have found the things to be used
1) 555 timer
2) variable resistance
3)7 segment(*4)
4)7447 decoder
5)74192 (*4)
6) breadboard
