So how can I measure DC equivalent of the current injected to the tank to sustain the amplitude of the oscillations?

 

I follow some of what is being proposed here, but I think a circuit that I can implement for simulation would be beneficial.

So the concern of measuring current drive of the coil is that of a repeatable measurement? So long as the repeat error is much less than the accuracy of the design, then it would work alright. Nonetheless I cannot visualize an implementation of this, if one can be proposed I can quickly evaluate it.
