How do you calculate what value resistor you need for a vacuum-tube's plate? Probably a really dumb question hahah

 

Typically, a resistor which would have half the supply voltage across it at the designed plate current.

The Tube books show amp design. Additionally the magazines in the older issues have
many tube circuit designs.

For RF amplifiers (tube based), there usually is no resistor. A RF choke on the HV line, and a capacitor feeding to the output tuning circuit. No resistors.
So, be a little more specific if possible, what are you trying to calculate?
