Hi,

I want to recoil the secondary coil of an AC stick (arc) welder transformer with a shunt. The secondary spool must have the same turns as the primary spool.
With the shunt i can vary the voltage of the secondary spool. I want to use this setup for my electronic bench and also to vary the speed of certain motors. Is this setup possible??

The voltage on a SMAW transformer will collapse as load is increased.

Ha ha. Yes Max. I'm going to buy the 20 amp Variac. Just wanted to know if there are other options. Thanks.
