FYI this isn't spam; I know you probably get plenty of drug ads in you inbox, especially for viagra and the likes, but this is no ad. this is a helpful hint from your good forum friend strantor for any migraine suferers out there.

I have suffered from migraines since I was about 5y/o. I would get them so bad I couldn't talk or think, just puke. My mom was into homeopathic remedies back then so all I got were herbs and these little round pellets which were just sugar pills. they didn't work, I had to suffer through.

Since I have been of the age to choose my own medications, I have tried just about every over the counter pain medication and several prescription ones as well. Some of the prescritions worked well, but none worked as fast as BC powder does.

BC powder is my best friend. I have a box on my desk at work, one in my backpack, one on my headboard of my bed, one in my truck, and I keep a couple of packets in my wallett, just so I can be sure I'm covered wherever I am.

It works best when you first feel a migraine coming on; that wierd feeling in your head before the pain comes. If you take it then, the migraine never comes. in the first stage of migraine, it will also cure the migraine. If you wait until it's already set in, it won't cure the migraine, but it will help.

I take 2 and wash it down with a coke. The coke neutralizes the horrid taste and the caffeine acts as a catalyst to make it work faster.

It's not always sold in pharmacies or department stores, but you can almost always find it in truck stops; right loosie?

My youngest daughter suffers migraine, probably as in your case as well, not following a any recognizable pattern for the causes.

She is 20 and manages quite well the ways to minimize the effects when everything starts but nothing seems to be THE remedy for her.

I have to pass this info to her. Wonder if that BC powder I could get here.

Is it free, I guess. No medical order needed?

Interested.

Edit: Just posted while KM was typing /Edit.

Edit 2: The few times I had not migraine but headache I was able to understand how bad she feels! Thanks God I am free of that! / Edit 2

I have never seen it for sale in other countries. Hard even to find it in some parts of the U.S. My last 2 jobs were world travel jobs and I used to stock up several boxes before my trip, because I knew I wouldn't be able to get it where I was going.

If you want, I could probably send you some. pm me if so

No prescription needed

Appreciate that strantor. Will find a way to have some collected at the US by people going there soon.

BTW, what was that job that kept you traveling abroad?

Myself did it for many years as a seaman.

Gracias again.

I was in the U.S. Navy on a submarine, and then when I got out of the navy I went to work in international field service/commisioning drilling equipment on drillships & offshore oil rigs in shipyards. I have a brother in law who is a seaman.

In the last years I became used to OWS basically discharged locally from vessels proceeding mostly from USA albeit not for offshore service.

Also dealt with loading / discharging drilling rigs arriving / leaving the country. An outstanding one was a brand new rig (ex Canada?) able to "walk" in small steps saving the disassembling / assembling process for every change of location.

Navigating in between platforms as when approaching Houston was common occurrence for me when trading for about 4 years between Brazil and the Gulf. (Thanks God with no hurricanes in the vicinity just few far away and in open waters, easy to be avoided early).

Have you retired?

Are you referring to this?

I've never seen it personally, as most of my time was spend on the offshore rigs, but it is pretty cool.

No, I am only 25 years old. I only spent 4 years in the navy and 2 years working international field service. I chose a more "normal" job now that I am married with child (soon to be children).

Yes, that one. It well could be that brand but I cannot recall.

Strange as it could seem it was destined to mining potassium not for oil.

After drilling the necessary "holes" to the desired depth, pressurized water is injected. The overflow is sent to big pools to settle down. Water is later discarded and the remaining is processed.

BTW, in my next life, if I have one and I recall what I lived in this I will not go at sea. Spent too much of my time there and as a naval engineer put it in few words: your people get used to not count on you because you are always far (or they assume so).

Both in the Navy and in my previous job I saw guys who spent 50-75% of their time away from their families. Some stayed together, some didn't. Not all families can do it I think. I'm glad to hear that your family is one of the families who can do it. I'm not willing to take the chance and find out with my family; which is why I took about a 40% pay cut to go work where I am working currently. We are struggling now, but I think probably it's better to struggle together than to be apart and fall apart.

Having BC powder work so well leaves me wondering what type of migrane your having. For me I get classic migraines. Only thing that helps is imitrex which is $30 for 1 50mg pill. All the other migraine meds you see OTC are just normal pill + Caffeine. So Excedrin Migraine is just Excedrin + caffeine, tylanol migraine is just tylonol + caffeine.

I wasn't aware of different types of migraines. I went online and searched for "types of migraines" and read from a few different sources; seems it depends who/what doctor you ask as to what types of migraines there are. I don't know what you would call mine, but it starts with sort of a "light head" feeling which lasts ~20 min then dull pain starts coming and it gets worse and worse. at the peak of the pain I feel short of breath an nauseated. Moving, light, sound, thinking, all makes it worse. The pain starts from the front behind my eyes then moves backward across the top of my head. When I was in the navy, the navy doc explained that it is caused by constricting blood vessels in the head, and that when I take BC powder (aspirin + caffeine + other, as you pointed out) the aspirin works to expand the blood vessels.

30$ for a 50mg is absolutely ridiculous. 30$/50mg works out to 600$/gram
the current price of gold is 58$ per gram
so, imitrex is worth 10X it's weight in gold.

You most likely have common migraine. Common migraines can come on slowley or hit quick and hard, classic migraines usually have a vision issue 15min-1hour before the migraine actually starts. You can actaully see the retina fluttering during it too. But rule of thumb if you go blind or have partial blindness then a severe headache its a classic migraine, if it onsets like a normal or fast headache its a common migraine. Common migraines are more common with woman, and classic migraines are more common to men but not that common. like 70/30 split. Past the onset issues they are almost exactly alike.

The worst part is you can only get them in boxes of 9 for $285+, they sell it in europe as immigraine for I believe $49 for a box of 9. But I don't know anyone in EU that can get a script for it and would mail it to me so I really don't have any options. Oh and if its a bad migraine you may need to take 2, or if you throw the first one up you have to take a 2nd which ='s a $60 headache.
