Hello everyone (first time post)

For all I know this might be a common circuit?
2000w power supplies are quite expensive.
I need to supply 24v at about 1500w (drawing attached) to a motor driver and I know very little about analog circuits. The idea is to use a PIC to monitor the voltage on the 24v cap and control it with the FET. I’m thinking the 24v cap will act as a reservoir and lower the switching freq. required for the FET.
Will it work?

If it does can someone tell me what sized caps would work best? I’ve looked up the formula but I’m less than confident about my ability to apply it.

Thank you for any help.

Mod edit: deleted transformerless PS schematic.
