Yes, @Dunkan McCloud there is all kinds of stuff to look at.

I confess that I feel a little guilty that I "liked" @OBW0549 's response but it caused me to laugh out loud (I know, it is an old line, but at that moment, it was funny to me) and I hope that you can see that your post was more than a little umm open-ended. Certainly, you can cut and paste your title into Google and see what turns up, but, at the risk of misinterpreting your question, here is a link to what is becoming a standard metric for testing the pulse of developers: Stack Overflow Developer Survey (2018).

Surveys have limited meaning and value, but you (and others) might enjoy the responses and they are presented nicely (and with lots of charts )

The questionnaire spans a broad range of areas from the expected (where do you think C is on the list of languages? [11] to the less expected (what percentage of developers spend less than 30 min/day outside? [15.6]
