Myth: Guinness is high in calories.
Guinness, a stout-style brew, is known for its creamy texture, dark color, and rich, caramel-tinged flavor. That means it must be high in calories, right? Not so fast. A 12-ounce serving of Guinness sets you back 125 calories—just 15 more than the same serving of Bud Light. Alcohol is beer’s main calorie source, and since Guinness is just 4.2% ABV, it’s relatively low in calories. The dark color and sweetness come from small amounts of roasted barley used in the brewing process. And that thick, creamy texture? Most beers are carbonated with carbon dioxide, but Guinness uses a mix of CO2 and nitrogen. Nitrogen bubbles are smaller than CO2 bubbles, which produces a smoother “mouthfeel,” as beer nerds call it.
Sorry for replying to my own post, but:I'm drinking light beer tonight.
WTF?A 12-ounce serving of Guinness...
LOL, no, we had plenty of Buffalo Trace mint juleps this evening but that photo is not mine. You spoiled brat... is that picture at your place?
LOL, I always turn off my iron and put the knives away once the beer comes out. Many fewer scars that way.
Truth is that I turned it on just for the pictureLOL, I always turn off my iron and put the knives away once the beer comes out. Many fewer scars that way.
I'd like one that isn't Jack and Coke or pepsi. What else mixes with Jack?Man walks out of Costco with 24 bottles of Hennessy liquor

I always have homemade mint syrup on hand because it grows like a weed in my garden. I'd be tempted to try replacing the maple syrup with mint. Either way, this sounds really good.Anyone tried this one?
Ingredients
kv
- Source. 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup.
- 2 dashes orange-flavored bitters.
- Juice of half an orange.
- 2 ounces Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey or Jack Daniels Gentleman Jack.
- 1 or 2 ice cubes.
- Orange peel for garnish.
Edit: Target doesn't have orange flavored bitters but Wallmart does?
Edit:Edit: Oh, and I like it.
They have a recipe for Mint Julep on the website for Jack, I'm going to try that one too!I always have homemade mint syrup on hand because it grows like a weed in my garden. I'd be tempted to try replacing the maple syrup with mint. Either way, this sounds really good.
Sounds awesome, a mint julep basically. But I'm not sure what a "part" is when there's nothing else measured in parts. Two shots would be about right.Tonights Libation:
