Tonight's Libation

Just the locals trying to shame people into buying Bavarian-made dresses instead of Chinese imports. Germans complaining of Porno girls is laughable. They have 30-minute info-mercials of topless girls moaning and trying to convince guys to call sex lines or live internet streaming sites. Also, every day there is an obligatory nude photo of a random woman on Page 2 of The Build, a National News paper.

I think we flew over (or pretty near) that on our way down. We were scheduled to leave the morning of day the snow storm hit the NE. I thought we'd be fine till noon the day before when all flights that day got canceled. The only seats my wife could find for us left out of Montreal, and there were no flights from NYC to there.

So Wednesday we flew to Ottawa, spend a quiet night in the terminal, short hop to Montreal then the main flight to Cancun. I accepted it as part of an adventure and somewhat enjoyed the 20 hour trip (normally 4-5 hours).

The Soggy Peso is a dive bar (using the term in it's most admiral sense) along Av Rueda Medina in Isla. It is best knows for spectacular margaritas (you can have two, do not attempt three) and their Cheeseburger in Paradise which is consistently the best burger I have ever had. Only served Thursdays as their kitchen is small so they only have a choice of one meal per day (your choice is yes or no). A sign out front will inform you of the meal of the day.

It has become so popular that they now have a gate with a code key, you need the code to enter after five.

I don't mind going there at all.
Yo, Ernie ... by the end of this month I'll be visiting Isla Mujeres again. And this time I'm going to have a look at the place you've recommended... see how my friends like it...

Apparently in the City here you don't need to pay!

"liquor marts and their security staff are not doing enough to combat a large increase in thefts.

Police announced on Tuesday there had been nearly 1300 theft reports from liquor Marts in 2018, a significant increase from previous years.

Security guards aren’t intervening.

“These individuals come into a store, they start to load up liquor and then they just walk out.”
These are Unarmed robberies!o_O

Now, it seems every city, town and hamlet I visit has its own beer made by locals: Specialty beers, microbrews, craft beers made by community artisans. And I have to tell you, without exception, they're all bad.
I agree with this statement nearly 100%.

Most craft beer "artisans" seem to think that beer that tastes different is better than beer that tastes good.

I'll have the good-tasting beer. Save the fancy stuff for the poseurs.

I live just south of the Cheddar Curtain and I think you’d have better luck around here. I generally try out the local brew when I can and I’m rarely disappointed.

But I agree with your point that I don’t want something “special” or creative or whatever. I want it to be beer.

I guess the distinction has to be made as to 'Fancy' or 'Good Tasting', There is such a wide range of beer styles, If the preclusion includes the Belgium Trappist, Dubbel's and Wheat beers etc, I would like to know what the definition of 'good' beer is?
My taste in beer has always extended to more than one simple brand or type.
I praise the local micro-breweries that are striving to create something a little better than the mundane stuff produced by most of the big national breweries.

I call this one a "Dirty Gin & Tonic" ... it's a little lime juice and a slice, plenty of ice, a sprig of fresh rosemary (plucked directly from my backyard) one part gin, one part tonic water, and one part juice from a freshly blended cucumber.

Sounds great. I make similar drinks but have never tried fresh rosemary. Top of my list now.

As a lover of whiskey and ginger (ale), and Moscow mules, I’ve discovered that whiskey and ginger beer is even better. I can’t find a ginger ale with anywhere near as much ginger flavor as a good ginger beer. A modestly priced Kentucky bourbon and a good ginger beer equals heaven.
