Was that directed at me? If so, know that I consider myself an "expert" only in the same quotes as you wrote it with. As maybe the only active member of this forum who has ever been aboard a real submarine, much less served years on one, I felt obliged to join the discussion and hopefully provide unique insight. Not sure why that's a problem, or why you have have anything negative to say about it.

It was mean't mainly at two people who always seem to be experts in these things. The guy's that no matter what the disaster they have experience in the problem. They know who they are.

It's not Ha-Ha funny, but weird funny. Doesn't matter if a plane drops from the sky, a train spills deadly chemicals in a rural town or something sinks. They have the answers. Some times before the full situation is even known.

You're grading high for your imagined 'experts'.. What most of us see as ordinary competence on the general topics of material sciences (something you gain from a general physics or science education beyond high school) you see as expertise of the subject Submersible Failure. It's very logical to see what possible failure modes existed on the doomed craft as the CEO was told many times, by actual experts in the field, almost exactly what was going to happen and most likely did happen to the craft.

Sadly, what happened to them was not a surprise or a deep mystery.

Its the thing called internet where everyone is able to explore or express ideas. and internet forum is exactly the place where such exchange can take place. that includes those who would rather control who can say something and what can be said. the fact is also that internet is providing great deal of anonymity yet some may not have courage to speak frankly and challenge opposing views, they may find their comfort in gossip.
