Thread deleted, unsure of reason

I just posted a new thread in the Power Supply section, as I was looking for help with capacitor storage and battery issues. I was looking to make a pair of minor shock gloves. Nothing dangerous/illegal, just static shock level. I saw it was closed as the "Topic is not allowed on AAC". I just wanted to know which part is not allowed, as I do not want to violate any rules again.

Thank you in advance, Mods

Sorry, discussion of any device that is intended to produce an electrical shock is strictly prohibited.
Huh. The rule makes sense but we do discuss devices that apply electricity to human tissue. Are intentional "shocks" such as delivered by a TENS unit a bending of the rule or is there some defined level to define a "shock"? It seems to me that intent of the user should come into play.

I think the usual definition of an electrical "shock" is that it's of sufficient current to give a very unpleasant or painful feeling (such that it says "don't do that again").
Thus the small amount of current generated by a TENS machine would not be considered a shock.

Hi,
When someone has to ask an online Forum for advice/guidance on making a shocking device, it indicates they lack the knowledge and possibly the experience in knowing when the device they make will be safe to use.

The Thread was reported by a fellow member.

AAC restrictions are clearly stated regarding 'shock devices', so the Thread was deleted.

Clip:
  • Restricted topics. The following topics are considered "out of bounds" and will result in your thread being closed without question:

    • Amateur/homemade rail guns and other high-energy projectile devices

  • If You come across a thread or post discussing any of the above topics, please report the thread so We can close, and if necessary remove, the offending thread/posts.
