I was just doing that dangerous thing of you-tube surfing, and came across a true classic - The Secret Life of Machines:
I guess "machines" are less mechanical these days, but i remember watching these programs as a child, and they were truly inspiring! I even repeated quite a few of the experiments myself, much to the horror of my mother, (but the subtle interest of my father!) The quality is a little ropy now- hard to believe how few pixels we put up with in those days! But really educational and fun too- And they have the classic line "put that XXX penguine out!"
