Yep, that's why we used to call the sales rep of a large well known process controls company "Lying Larry" after he gave us some info that he was given by his corporate sales folks that was pure smoke and mirrors! And Lying Larry got the job after his predecessor screwed up so badly that he was fired and our corporate folks threatened to discontinue any further business with their company after his last major screw up! He was nicknamed "Sorry Sam" because of his propensity for saying "I'm so sorry" after his multiple screw ups. They gave reality to the old adage "How can you tell if a salesman is lying? His lips are moving".

A little trivia:

In a past life, I was a staff programmer for Anderson Consulting, at the time a division of Arthur Anderson, the now-defunct company responsible for cooking the books for Enron and Worldcom.

I wasted that life writing general ledger programs in COBOL and CICS for large power tool manufacturers.
