Was that Herculese? Or was it Samson? Samson was a Nazarite who was told not to cut his hair. It was his hair that gave him his strength. Delilah kept picking at him until he told her his secret. She shaved his head and the Phillistines captured him. I believe Samson propounded a riddle saying "Out of the eater, something to be eaten'." It was in reference to happening upon a lion and he killed it with his bare hands by breaking its jaw; as you see in the depictions. Later when Samson passed by the lion, bees had taken up nesting in its carcas. Samson discovered the honey. Thus, out of the eater (Lion) something to be eaten (honey).

According to the Christian Greek Scriptures (New Testament) Jesus was about 30 when he started his ministry. His ministry was prophesied to be 3 1/2 years. He died at about 33 1/2 years of age. His death was at the Passover which would have been late April or early May. Go back 33 1/2 years puts his birth around September or October. This is further supported by the report that shepherds were in the fields with their flocks. In late December the flocks would not be in the fields. But in September, possibly as late as October, the sheep would still be found in the fields grazing and getting ready for the winter. Christmas - as I learned it - was taken from the Roman holiday Saturnalia. The holiday as I learned it was in celebration of the rebirth of the sun, which could be detectable by observation on about December 25th which is when the sun began its northern journey back into the sky. Today we have much more sophisticated means of detecting the exact moment when the winter solstice occurs, but back then one had to use the eye and some landmark to detect the sun had started its northern journey.

Those guys were pretty smart back then. I still don't believe the stories about Jesus, Moses and Noah, but to each their own. Believe as you see fit. I'm not trying to rob anyone of their faith. What I've shared is just one person's viewpoint. Take it for what you wish. Or not.
