My favorite cartoonist is by a long shot, Gary Larson. The Far Side is a masterpiece of absurd yet extremely witty storytelling.

I've always liked jokes that require you to put some thought into figuring out something that isn't explicit in order to get it. That definitely biases me towards The Far Side cartoons that have no captions. I think this might have been the very first The Far Side I ever came across.

I tried one of those advertised pills, thinking my wife would call me "A WHOLE NEW MAN"!
Something went wrong, as she called me "A HOLE"!

Once was asked if the glass is half full or half empty. I said "It doesn't matter. It's refillable." Got a dumb confused look.
