Alternatively, what if the mass angular momentum is transferred directly into the gravitational field via frame dragging, therefore allowing more (now less energetic) mass to fall past the horizon?
The common thought (from what I've read) is that frame dragging will neither accelerate nor slow down the falling mass, it would just weigh less if orbiting spinward. The overall effect, I don't know here.

Yeap ... we're still pretty much stuck in Plato's shadows in a cave dilemma ... I guess we're going to have to keep the Big Bang theory for the time being. At least until a better idea comes along.
This is also interesting, the idea of an Evil Demon or Evil Genius:
Evil demon - Wikipedia

Descartes was influenced by Plato.

Another way I have heard this described is that there could be an Evil Genius that exists between our eyes and our brains that can convert whatever the eyes see into whatever it wants us to see.

Any of these ideas points to the fact that we may never know some things for certain. This was exemplified with the discovery of quantum physics as well as many other ideas is physics. It's also interesting how archeology is changing over time.

We seem to live in a world where everything that we consider to be "real" is just what the majority of us believe to be real. If you believe something apart from the majority, you may be considered to be 'crazy', even if you are the only individual that is correct.

You're gettin' pretty close to nailing it MrAl.

There is no need to believe any of the following,
but I suggest that everyone looks into it.

It would make a great Movie .........

Start thinking more along the lines of
Evil-Possession of some people while in a temporarily weak mental-condition,
by a rather stupid Spiritual-Being with zero concept of Empathy,
combined with "The-Borg" from Star-Trek, that is also addicted to certain Blood-Chemicals.
( this is were the various "Vampire" stories come from )

They are especially adept at Brainwashing to get the control and results they want,
and consider people to be nothing more than Cattle.

This is what the various "gods" and "angels" of this planet have consisted of for around ~6000-years or so.

But not to worry, they're around ~80% removed and cleaned-out now,
and have zero% chance of their continued survival because of natural changes in our part of the Universe,
( entering "The Age of Aquarius", as outlined in numerous old Spiritual-Texts and the Bible ),
and considerable clean-up-help from "off-World" friends.

It's All-Good news.

Yeah, I know that you guys hate Interesting Engineering (I do too ... mostly), but this is a rather cool article:

Their findings confirm that roughly 76 percent of ordinary matter resides in the intergalactic medium, thinly spread across space. Another 15 percent lies in gaseous halos surrounding galaxies, while only a small fraction is found inside galaxies themselves, in stars, or cold galactic gas.

Hi,

That is actually interesting. So not only is our Earth a very small presence in the Universe and each one of us a small presence on the Earth, the stuff it is all made of and everything else we normally see around is also a small presence too.
