This old guy was going out the door for donation when it died for boot diagnostic fail. The 20 yo batteries inside the Dallas modules have died. It's an old friend so one repair attempt is granted.

Open her up and remove the board.

Old modules removed, board ready for replacements.

Unlikely they will ever need replacement again but the new modules on order will go into sockets.

The new NVRAM modules are here.

Yes, they are in sockets.

First boot self-test. OMG! That's normal with good but invalid memory locations.

Boot self-test after a few cold boots, self cal and external amplitude calibration (remove jumper 156 on the board) at 0.2, 2.0 and 20.0 volts.

Sweet. Works but needs a full calibration.

Sad, the old guy became a FORD today. The 5A fuse is toast on power-up. It had a good long life doing what it was made for. You can't ask for more than that.

The "real thing" knobs make fetch a few or many bucks; post in the Tek groups and I'll bet many people will be happy to take the knobs.
