That looks like a nice one. We've had ours for years and have used it a lot, probably more for jerky than anything else. I've repaired it many times!
Oh... thanks for sharing... I'm very interested in learning what sort of marinades and preparation techniques you've used for jerky... and the best type of beef and how to cut it too...

The majority of the jerky we made was using burger. It's just so much easier. We had an extruder gun. But I do recall using round steak (I think) a few times and that I personally had a slight preference for that. Tearing the meat fibers apart is part of the joy of jerky. My wife always did the seasoning so I can't really say much about that. I think we generally preferred minimal flavoring beyond salt and a little heat. Better than barbecue, teriyaki and so forth, which are good but not as good as meat. I recall that heat is reduced by the process, so it's OK to start with more than you think would be advised.

Nice dehydrator ... watermellon is a good choice if you want a sweet treat. My grandkids love making pressed beef jerky.

I like dried roma tomatoes ... in Italian seasoning. Then, smoked salmon, melted cooking cheese, the roma's in dressing, on toast.

Pretty soon you'll be adding more drying trays. :)

Sounds really good, love Salmon. Maybe you should start a "Dehydrator Thread with Recipes, whats yours" :)

I don't have one but, doesn't mean I can't drool.

No need for a new thread... we can share all sorts of recipies here... otherwise we're gonna end up with the snacks thread, the desserts thread, the appetizers thread... etc...

On the other hand, killivolt, a dehydrator such as mine costs less than 50 bucks, already delivered at your doorstep...

I recall my wife drying kiwis. She liked them but I felt like there was nothing left but citric acid. The kiwi flavor was gone. Banana, papaya and mango are all good choices.

I like my kiwis battered and fried.
Thanks for drawing kiwis to my attention, it piqued my curiosity, very interesting stuff:

... and lay the largest egg in relation to their body size of any species of bird in the world...

... brown kiwi females carry and lay a single egg that may weigh as much as 450 g (16 oz).

... The sight of the kiwi is so underdeveloped that blind specimens have been observed in nature showing how little they rely on sight for survival and foraging

Actually, I didn't eat as much yesterday night... and although I tend to eat a bit more on social gatherings, I always keep tabs on myself ... my problem is a complete lack of exercise at this point ... but I'll be taking care of that pretty soon

It's interesting how diet and exercise (and sleep) are all necessary but not sufficient on their own. You cannot possibly outrun a bad a diet. It's fairly easy to eat enough calories in one meal to offset a week of workouts. So getting control of one's diet is essential. But, without exercise in the mix, your metabolism just goes to shit and you won't lose nearly as much weight or feel good while you're suffering a caloric deficit. Exercise reduces stress and makes it easier to sleep. Both effects in turn give you more willpower to make good diet decisions. The circle of life, if you will.

This very graphic tragedy has been circulating through social media... I ignore who the sad ex-owner is, and the general circumstances of what happened ... but in my part of the woods, one these suckers cost something in the vicinity of $1,500.00 dlls:
