Have you decided on an analog, digital or a some sort of hybrid system?

If you're just starting out I would recommend starting with a breadboard(VCO, filters and mixers), then modular(strip board, home made or factory made PCBs... dealers choice)
before you would do on building a full stand alone unit that compares to moog, Korg or Arturia's stand alone synths. It´s easier said than done to plan out a whole synth without having a firm vision of what it should be capable of. That means reading a whole lot of schematics + filter, oscillator theory and experimenting just to name a few things.

It´s might be easier to just copy a whole schematic of a stand alone synth but still it could become a lot of work if you need to design the PCBs yourself, build the enclosure and depending on what synth you decide to build, source parts because plenty of "old" synths used parts that are hard to find today even before the IC shortage like OTA, SnH chips, Norton op amps, dedicated VCO and VCAs It can take some time to design around that with new chip equivalents.

As you can see in this video it´s a bit of a feat to finish a synth from scratch even though its a copy of someone else's schematic and yet very satisfying :)

Anyways Here are some resources.(mostly modular synth schematics) for you to check out.

Moog Foundation schematics
Moog Werkstatt-01 schematics

Modwiggler Forums
CGS synth modules and schematics by Ken Stone
Barton´s synth modules and schematics
Synth modules and schematics by Thomas Henry
Synth modules and schematics by Eddy Bergman
Experimentalists Anonymous various schematics
Fonitronik synth modules and schematics

Good luck and above all have fun :)
