Speaker cable for 3000 volts

Hello.

I got a small power supply of a CCFL from a old printer.

I have used a voltage multiplier to get 3.000V. It is to make a experiment in vacuum. The question is, Can I use regular speaker cable (the one black and red) for that? I mean, it is made from PVC and it has a great dielectric strength but I´m not sure. I don´t care about safety reasons, the voltage is great, but the current is very weak and also I am not planning to touch the cables, what I care of is about the insulation os not enought and fail. Any advice?

Thank you

best regards

IF you are able to keep both connections well separated apart, you could use two pieces of speaker cable. But there would still be the potential shock hazard from touching them. So I do not recommend doing it that way.

You need wire specifically designed for high voltages. Speaker wire that looks like appliance wire is probably rated for 600V or less.
