Sparse Channel Estimation

Hello,

I am new in sparse signal processing and trying to understand the logic behind the sparsity.
In OFDM systems how to define the sparse channel? At receiver how can we get the original data transmitted through the sparse channel?

Appreciate if someone please help me in visualizing this application.
