I have been using a VPN for about 3 years now. I have also been using a lot of ad blocking and anti tracking apps.

It has been worth it. In the last year, I might get 1 or 2 email spams per week. I said week.

This morning a received 6 email spams from unknown electronic forums and electronic suppliers.

Has anyone noticed anything similar yet?

Have you specified what your interests are in your profile? If so, I wonder if that could be the cause of your receiving spam.

I certainly hope it is not related to the changes made to the forums. If so, you can bet there will be a huge uproar.

Listing your interests in your profile shouldn't cause you to get spam as there shouldn't be any way to link that information to an e-mail address to send the spam to. Unless something has changed. I'll see what jrap says.

FYI: My spam load is about the same as yours -- a few spam e-mails a month -- and I have absolutely no blockers or anti-trackers or anything else. I'm just paranoid and careful about what I do online.

That is 100% coincidental, and has nothing to do with AAC.
I'm so VERY glad to hear that!!!!

Could we get that in writing? :D

Seriously, we do need a Privacy Policy put in place, but having you say that is VERY reassuring.

"That is 100% coincidental, and has nothing to do with AAC."

Ok, I will take your word.

From "The State of AAC" thread, post #4......

"AAC and EETech Media have partnered to incorporate relevant and helpful marketing where appropriate, in context and of service to the AAC audience."

I prefer to decide what is appropriate marketing for me.

I have spent boo coos of time of research, to stop the appropriate marketing done on my behalf.

And spent money for extra web services, so that I may decide, not a marketer.

Here's the problem.

When you sell my email address, it does not end there. This is only the beginning.

My email address is resold many, many times.

There are now, thousands of companies that do nothing but track.

Can we opt-out of the sold email list?

I hope she was just referring to the ads we see on site, but she did not qualify that statement.

Nothing is clear at all about this whole thing.

I wanted to express my doubts.

I am willing to give it a few weeks.

Privacy is Security. Security is Privacy.

It's like an EM field. Always together.

So happy this all happened without my knowledge! If this site ever gets my real name, it will be from my tombstone.
