jrap installed an addon for the forum to have some restrictions for new members.
The first two days the new members are allowed to post 5 posts in 1 hour.
This is done to avoid flood spamming, but not to restrict new members who do have real questions.

How about having no restrictions on posts in existing thread?
Restrictions only on creating new threads.

People only need to post 6 or more times per hour in the political threads. If people sign up just to post in one of those death spirals, they can suffer the 5-per hour rule. Hopefully the off-topic posts do get counted for newbie's 5/hour limit (or maybe I just found a loophole).
