hi i was wondering if anyone had any idea of how to make a plasma ball more sensitive to sound. it has a simple circuit which includes a mic that picks up the sound i have tried removing that and connecting it externally with shielded audio cable but that doesn't work (ball either stays on or stays off) i have been looking on the internet for a wire and all i have came across is people with the same problem but no solution. some have suggested changing resisters after the mic but not to what. i would greatly appreciate any help given.

 

You need to change the gain, or add an extra stage, post pictures of it.

My guess is that the discussion is about a plasma ball toy. An actual plasma ball is very hot and gaseous and generally quite destructive unless adequately contained somehow.
