Hi everybody,

I made a small code for testing the UART function on Nucleo l476RG board (of stm32) using the stm32CUBEide, but for some reasons it doesn't work.

I put the code here bellow, if any one have any idea.

Thank you

Karim

The code is generated automatically after defining the pin C4 as TX and C5 as RX (image bellow).
UART3 is initiated within "MX_USART3_UART_Init" I suppose (code bellow).
MX_USART3_UART_Init:
static void MX_USART3_UART_Init(void)
{

  /* USER CODE BEGIN USART3_Init 0 */

  /* USER CODE END USART3_Init 0 */

  /* USER CODE BEGIN USART3_Init 1 */

  /* USER CODE END USART3_Init 1 */
  huart3.Instance = USART3;
  huart3.Init.BaudRate = 9600;
  huart3.Init.WordLength = UART_WORDLENGTH_8B;
  huart3.Init.StopBits = UART_STOPBITS_1;
  huart3.Init.Parity = UART_PARITY_NONE;
  huart3.Init.Mode = UART_MODE_TX_RX;
  huart3.Init.HwFlowCtl = UART_HWCONTROL_NONE;
  huart3.Init.OverSampling = UART_OVERSAMPLING_16;
  huart3.Init.OneBitSampling = UART_ONE_BIT_SAMPLE_DISABLE;
  huart3.AdvancedInit.AdvFeatureInit = UART_ADVFEATURE_NO_INIT;
  if (HAL_UART_Init(&huart3) != HAL_OK)
  {
    Error_Handler();
  }
  /* USER CODE BEGIN USART3_Init 2 */

  /* USER CODE END USART3_Init 2 */

}

Silly question....

Do you have:

Micro Tx --> UART adapter Rx

Micro Rx --> UART adapter TX

It's easy to get this confused, and some "helpful" devices label pins as what they connect to rather than what the are.

you mean the same first code (without adding the part that you mentioned) ?

Me still not working ...
Yes. I deleted that post with the added part. It was not necessary.
How are you testing the USART3 TX on PC4?
I am using an oscilloscope and I can see the data being transmitted at the proper 9600 baud.

Just want to be more precise, at the same time I don't understand what you mean by
"It's easy to get this confused, and some "helpful" devices label pins as what they connect to rather than what the are " ...

pin_out.PNGAll fine, thanks. I was using a another that show the pin on a different location -top left- (photo bellow).

Thanks
