I am assuming there are two cases where a resistor is in series with an inductor as well as the case where it is in parallel with an inductor.

Okay so what this question is asking you is: At what values of Ls and Lp will both circuits have the same impedance value at 250 krad/s?

One is a series circuit and the other is a parallel circuit. Both impedances will be the same, and operate at the same frequency. Start by writing out the equations for both impedances and equate them.

 

use this formula
Rs+jwLs=(Rp)(jwLp)/(Rp+jwLp)
Substitute w=250 Krad/s
Rs=300 ohm and Rp=600 ohm
and equate the real and imaginary parts separately.
If you still don't understand then I'll give the whole solution.

 

Actually I just explained what blah2222 has stated. The Rs+jwLs is the series circuit impedance and (Rp)(jwLp)/(Rp+jwLp) is the parallel circuit impedance and you should equate the two as I have done.
