Is there a Reliable inexpensive Solid State relay I can use to replace the existing open contact relay in this schematic? The relay uses a 24v signal to trigger the coil.
Does anyone know of a way this could be converted from an elctro-mechanical relay to a solid state relay so I can quit burning points? Also something that wont cause an issue with motor coasting.
You can use a cap. to "bypass" the points so as not to couse a sparks and thus, burning of the points. This is a trick that has been used on normal switches for many years.
How would that be wired into the relays? Here is a pic of the application.
The relays in question are the 2 black towers in the lower center of the chassis on the left. upper and lower contacts. 1 runs the sweep motor for clearing pins and the other runs the table up and down.
