my evdo usb modem has a tiny antenna jack on the side. The adaptors fit poorly and are so loose that you can change the signal 12 dbm by wiggling it. Not good.
I want to solder on a sma female and glue it permanently on the side of the USB modem.
Then I wouldnt even need the adaptor, I could just plug in the antenna coax right into it and screw it in tight.
You may have seen these adaptors. Is the middle pin hot or ground??? Do I solder the
pins together and the outers together.??? I would make sure to break the circuit by sanding the pcb solder before I did this. The sma would be the ONLY antenna circuit....
any clear pics on this somewhere..??? any info appreciated..

 

The outer is the shielding and is usually connected to ground.
