No, we don't have any such awards. And if we did any of that stupid crap I'd almost certainly leave and go somewhere else; I've been on a couple of sites that gave out awards, trophies, badges and such, and they all sucked because of that practice.

Geez calm down! I just asked a question. I was thinking of maybe giving credit to those who stay on here and go out of their way to help others.
The part about me being banned was a joke. How does giving credit where credit is due "BAD"? And it might should have gone in the suggestions category but that's another issue. Wouldn't want you to leave.... You might win a trophy and wouldn't know it!

I don't need to calm down; what I said was said in a mood of sublime mellowness and placid spiritual one-ness with the cosmos.

The reason trophies and awards are a bad idea is because the result is that people begin bickering over whether or not they were deserved. "Why did you give him a Best Avatar award and not me? Mine's a LOT better!", "How come you designated him Smartest Poster? He's as dumb as a box of wet hair!!!" would be typical responses.

I know this from experience; I've seen it. Trophies and awards end up creating resentment and are bad for morale.

I did eventually get my wall plaque for my first 5000 posts, but I believe there was a problem with the engraver, (machine electrical problem).

Such awards and star are fine for kindergarten and grade school, but I don't think they have any place here, and I'm glad they don't do them.
(Just living up to my motto).

I wasn't wanting them for me. Like I said even the Most likely to get banned part was a joke. I mean sure when someone helps out we all say thanks at the end and go our merry ways. Wasn't meaning a competition to where everybody is at everybody else's throats either. Maybe the words Trophy and Award were a little harsh to the sophisticated palates here on AAC.
Lord knows I wouldn't want anyone to know that they had done a great job or give them credit for helping someone or having them know the person that they helped really appreciated it, a pat on the back! I guess that does sound a little Crazy. (sarcasm intended) And I didn't mean it like "Stars" in a kindergarten school either.
Heck even a "Thank you" thread would be better than nothing.

I may have related this story before but....

Back when my little brother was in grade school . One day he came home very excited.

Brother ="Mom. mom if we do good in out test tomorrow, teacher is going to give us a seal".
Mom - "That's nice son."
Brother appearing frustrated "But we are will going to keep him?"
Mom - "What?"
Brother "The seal! Will dad build a pen?"
Mom "Son, the teacher did not mean a a real seal. She meant like a sticker".
Brother almost crying "Na ah, teacher said would give us a deal and she would not lie".

Her did do well on his test and still came home very disappointed.

So once you get a thousand post we will give you a seal. And dad won't need to build a pen/

 

A bit like the kid that won a the Bowling for a Pig at the county fair, on the way home with the piglet, his friend said 'where are you going to keep it?'
'In the house, in my room', he replied, 'what about the smell' the friend asked, Oh the pig won't mind, was the reply.

That would be like Boy/Cub Scouts. The Den Leader, Pack Leader, or whatever they call them gave out pins to the parents who helped their children earn pins - some for the silliest of things.
