Hello,

I started to use MP2307 for an application :

Then with reading the datasheet i finally draw this on Kicad :

Compared to original schematic, i added D32 and C36 for better 5v output, then adjusted R31 & R32 to get correct 5v output. By what was said in MP2307 datasheet.

When i started up the application, it worked well, but under heavy load (~2 amp) it started smoking around L31 - C36 - D32
Suprisingly, it's still working and doing the 12v -> 5v job after that event.

Here's the BOM :

L31 - Inductor 10 µH / 4A - IHLP2525CZER100M8A
D31 - B130 - MBRS130LT3G
D32 - 1N4148 - 1N4148W-7-F

C31 & C32 capacitors are tantalum.

It is actually my first board, What could be wrong ?

Thanks a lot !

Hi Remi,
If you actually have C35 in the circuit, take it out and short that connection. The data sheet stipulates putting the anode of D32 at the output and the cathode at the BS node, no cap. Not sure what is smoking but the C35 is not helping the bootstrap cap charge up to support the high side N-channel.
