HI All,
I am having an issue with a Sipex sp3232 chip. I have tried doing the loopback test on the serial line but still get nothgin but im guessing very confused with what the datasheet says and what is posted elsewhere and was wondering if anybody has experience with them?
basically the V+ pin, according to the reference should be tied to ground with a capacitor, but some pleaces online show this tied to vcc with a cap?
also Does this need a decoupling cap between vcc and ground?

the vcc should be tied to the supply and bypassed with a cap.

 

Hi, many thanks for your reply, slight misunderstanding, the way I explained it I think. the v+ pin is not the vcc pin, it's is I think part of the boost circuit for the rs232 data.
