Simple Transmitter Needed

I am looking for a simple inexpensive circuit to transmit a signal a minimum of 1000'. I have a trash container located about 800' from my home in the woods and want to know when a critter may access it. All I need is to have a simple led light up once a signal is sent or audio.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Gathering the parts to make the Tx+Rx units will cost 100 times than buying the set. If you really want to build the set yourself, buy the set, dismantle it to components and use them as a very complete and tested parts kit putting it back into operation.

HC12 is a possible solution but maybe not the simplest or cheapest. More info here: https://www.allaboutcircuits.com/pr...enting-the-hc-12-wireless-transceiver-module/

How are you planning to 'sense' the critter? A PIR sensor, contact pad, or what? If this is to be battery-powered, which is my assumption, the sensing mechanism will have a bearing on the matter...
I have a 36" live trap located within the container and was going to install a simple switch to close the circuit once the door slams shut.

nrf24l01 springs to mind. With an external directional antenna and a clear line-of-sight, that distance could be achievable. How dense are the woods? If it's forest, lower frequencies would be better. Obsolete radio control equipment might work.
