It think it is far more probable that the dating of the sample was flawed.
Likely. The point of the Silurian Hypothesis (a thought experiment which assesses modern science's ability to detect evidence of a prior advanced civilization) is not to say, this happened, it's motivation for us to find methods to see, if it could happen here and elsewhere in the universe. One day (for today to millions of years) humans also likely will be wiped off this planet and there is plenty of good solar stability (at least a billion years) from earths orbit to restart IMO the process for evolution to intelligent life forms again.

My faith is that life and intelligent life is a natural and common consequence of the laws of physics, not supernatural invocations. The law of increasing entropy drives matter to acquire lifelike physical properties.

It's also possible, The law of increasing entropy, was implemented by supernatural invocation.

The problem as I see it is conflating intelligence with civilized.
Valid but I don't see it being conflated here. It's using civilization products and environmental effects as a possible marker of past 'intelligence' creating detectable, non-natural caused matter and energy changes.

I do believe that existence itself was implemented by supernatural invocation. But I don't want to veer this thread off course.

I like PBS Space Time ... it's one of my YouTube's favorite channels.
