Hi,

I'd like to get your help please with the following subject:

The chip duration at 3.84 Mcps is 0.26 u
s.
If the time difference of the multipath components is at least 0.26 us, the WCDMA receiver can separate those multipath components and combine them coherently to obtain multipath diversity.

Why can't the reciever separate the multipath components if their time difference is less than 0.26 us?

Thank you.

The speed at which the processor is operating requires JUST UNDER .26uS to perform the signal processing and routing.

If time difference is less than .26uS, then the state of the input changes before it is cleared by the processor.

Basically the buffer overruns.

marshallf3 was correct... It just wasn't designed that way.

They could have used a faster processor. However, when developing a standard, you have to agree on SOMETHING. So, you weigh cost of processors, and clock speeds, and what the resulting bit-rate would be.. Find a happy medium and publish the standard.
