Should I be compensated or at least have a defensive strategy?

I have posted this before, big companies will wait you out even

if you have life saving device. The rear metal step on trailer of

a big rig.A guy come up with new design that kept cars from

running under a trailer beheading car passengers. The big companies

waited the guy out. Look on the road you will still see some of the

metal steps on trailers. There are other examples where life saving devices

were not used for twenty years. Most were self insured companies each

state handles claims different. Some have transportation boards, they also

mediate overweight tickets for big companies,a driver pays a fine, the company

mediates the rest of the charges, they go away.Any truckers don't break the

law if you are ask,the company owners have a different set of rules that they

don't fully explain to you.

Loosie our lawyer told us not even to bother patenting our newer devices. He said as you did the big companies will wait you out, find a loop hole, or change the design just enough to make em. Then take into account we openly let in chinese copies of anything and import them here a patent is worth less every year. They told us that our best asset was our time we've already put into it. Plus remember when you file a patent then its open for anyone to see. And many offshore mnf.'s have teams that go through patents to pull designs to copy.

We do own the patent for our main device, but the upgrades and add ons were not patenting. And honestly our main device patent is useless. Theres already 20 copies on the market, but trying to enforce the patent globally is impossible. We researched trying to stop the other mnf.'s and that was a joke, and endless lawyer money pit with no results.

Does you company have a "suggestion award program"? Where I worked (GM) they did, one time I got a maximum award for something I suggested, $10k.

Yes we have a suggestion submission thing online. Once I suggested that instead of throwing millions of dollars of assets in the form of unused consumables & perfectly good (no longer needed) equipment into the trash every year as part of their "spring cleaning" initiative, that they instead reroute those goods to a warehouse where, over the rmainder of the year until the next spring, a small team would list the assets for sale online and recoup some losses or ship to them to other sectors of the company where they may be needed. Never heard back on that. Oh well, it's better for me and my dirty dumpster diving habits. I don't think we get cash rewards for our suggestions anyway, just a pat on the back or plaque or something if it's really good.
