Sir, our project is similar to yours. We bought the capacitive sensor but it still doesnt work out since it cant distinguish PET bottles from other materials. Can we ask if what kind of sensor should we use? Thanks

Hello and welcome to AAC!
You have posted in an old thread. Now you have your own and it will be easier for you to get answers.

The ideas in that other thread may help you but unfortunately we never heard back how that other project turned out.

I was barely hoping , that someone could give us the solution from those people or maybe anybody from here.
Tough to give you a solution if you haven't articulated the problem: what other materials you want to sense the pet bottles against, what electric/physical/chemical/.... attributes may tell them apart, what kind of restrictions your sensor may have to live with, .....

You have to help others help you.

If there was an easy solution to this problem it would be used by recycling centers all over the world. And, you would no longer need a Solution because it would not be a "problem".

Sensing specific materials from scratch requires careful research and big investments. On the other hand, if your goal is to identify plastic bottles in a pile of garbage, I would focus on size, shape, bulk density of the bottles and use techniques like wind sifting (cyclone classification) or shape recognition in a machine vision software.

You will have no chance or low probability if success of using chemical analysis, or spectrophotographic methods without a big investment in excitation, sensing and finding a way to avoid or remove labels and residual materials from the bottles.

It looks like your best choice is to see if you can rent a unit from kansmaker, or maybe get a donation???
