Open the project dashboardusing Window->Dashboard. Click '+' Memory to open the graphs. If there are no graphs open project properties and in the selected configuration click 'Loading' and check the box 'Load symbols when programming or building for production (slows process) ' It should report the ROM used. I don't think it will show the RAM usage in absolute mode (that's all I use so can't help much there). Maybe someone else knows.

Toolbar: Window-> Debugging -> Watch will open a watch window. You'll miss some of the 8.x features. Of course that requires a supported debugger (PICKit, ICD etc.) and building/running in Debug mode.
