Hi again,

So I connected this ribbon cable to my PSU @3,9 V and it works fine. I kept the charging control PCB on the flex and simply hooked up the terminals. I haven't got a LCD on the phone so atm it is a bit tricky to monitor the stats but the battery percentage was around 65% after boot and dropped to 60% now, constantly dropping. I can see this as I run the system as a webcam and have the battery percentage on the OSD of the webcam interface. I will keep it overnight and see if it will turn off at some point.

@AYBFunkyMonkey I saw your picture of the cut off flex and I think you mixed up the polarity of the terminals, maybe that's why it didn't work? ;)
I tried the same on my old S7 Edge. I tried an external power supply directly to the connector on the board and also with the small PCB that was attached to the old battery but I couldn't get a boot. Probably the board got damaged somehow.
The difference was that I cut the PCB flex cable and I shouldn't have done it. So, I scraped the small remain of flex cable next to the PCB, tinned it with solder and soldered wires to make a bridge between the PCB and the flex cable. I can measure the correct voltage at the end of the flex cable connector, so the PCB is working even with the flex cable home made bridge.

However, when I connect the flex cable to the conenctor on the board and turn the external power supply ON, the external power supply shows a current consumption of 0A. Only when I press the phone power button, I see around 180mA of current but it's only while I keep the power button pressed. As soon as I release the button, the current drops to 0A.
