Hello...new poster. Simple question too...sorry if it's in the wrong place. I purchased this mini-amplifier because it checked all the boxes for my needs. Then I was researching it in more detail. Looks like the power supply is in the housing. I am expected to provide the plug, strip the wires and properly install them via the orange attachment shown in the picture. Technically, this is a piece of cake. I've done things like this that are much more difficult. My question is, is it safe? Were they meaning for it to be installed in a way that I am not aware of?

A little more information please, make, model, V&A Specs. Basically it will need a power cord connected in a safe and protected manner and should have some type of safety interrupt, fuse, breaker, etc. and hopefully an On/Off switch. That is just for the input. Then there is the output... What are you powering with it, V&A Specs., is there an output terminal strip or connector, etc. And Welcome to AAC!

If the input is line voltage, it's probably not safe for you to do it.

What I was planning on doing is getting a plug with cable, stripping the wires, and stick them into the holes of the orange box...correct polarity, of course. Use my voltmeter and probe around for any open contacts.

 

OK, this is designed to be in an enclosure and has no input protection. It will need more than just a 2 wire cordset. It also needs grounding and circuit protection. Power On/Off should be provided for the entire setup to come on at the same time. Since you apparently do not know what it requires, I would suggest a Home Theater installation technician or electrician be contacted to install it for you.
