As the title suggests I want to run a TV in a car.

I know that it's easy to do just run an inverter BUT I'm wondering if it's possible to mod the power supply of the TV to run on 12v instead of 230v.

I'm shore that flat screen's only need 12v to work, so does anybody out there know if this can be done??

One of the problems I foresee is that when the engine is running the alternator boosts the voltage to 13/14 volts.

Well thanks for any advice people can give me.

There are lots of 12vdc video monitors for a car TV screen a small DTV converter box could use. I've had a 12vdc DTV converter box in my car for years. I solved the higher voltage problem by installing series power diode(s) to drop the voltage. The main problem is you won't be able to view channels when the car is moving due to the nature of US DTV modulation. The cars motion causes multipath that even the best tuners can't handle so you will only get a blank screen even with a strong signal.
