I'm looking for a RTC that is capable to transmit the data to a simple 4-digits LED Display Module (common Anode/Cathode).

Obiously RTCs which support a serial communication (e.g. I2C, SPI, UART) aren't good because that I need to translate them using a micro-controller.

There are so many different chips and it is difficult finding something that fits my requirements.
Do you know a commonly used chip?

Yes, but not as a complete module.
I want freedom to choose the LEDs.

 

How about something like this. You could use any LEDs and it the pinout is different they could be connected with pieces of wire.

That's close to what I need. Though the models of the RTC and LED-digits modules aren't written.

Perhaps there's an RTC that its pinout includes the current time in BCD format?
I suppose it would be the best chip for the task.

 

The RTC in that clock kit is within the uC AT89C2051.
