Hello,

I did some google searches for my project, and came upon this forum, so hoping it fits the forums purpose.

Here is what I’m looking at doing: I have two vehicles under a local carwash companies monthly “unlimited subscription”. They just implemented RFID stickers for the system to recognize you, so you do not have to enter your membership code. The RFID stickers are ugly. I’m picky enough about the appearance of my cars that I spray painted my road toll e-z pass boxes black, to blend in. I’d like to find an RFID copier, that could transfer the data from the ugly stickers, to a more sturdy RFID tag/ e-z pass type device, that will be able to blend in and hopefully last longer than the stickers. **I’m not trying to subvert the carwash system, as each RFID is to a specific vehicle and license plate, as they have cameras that snap a pic of your face and your plates for every transaction to verify if questioned, that the plates match the account**
To summarize, looking for a cheap RFID copier for the RFID tag, and cheap RFID “e-z pass type” device to transfer the tag data to.

Thanks

So how much would you be willing to pay for such a solution?
HINT: It is unlikely to be enough to be interesting.
Who knows, some charitable soul might be willing to do it for peanuts.

So, I saw some cheap RFID copiers on Amazon for around $30-40, and some sturdy plastic RFID transponders online for around $10 each. I’m not sure if the copiers on Amazon are junk, and if the $10 transponders are the correct frequency, but if those product are correct and would work, I’m ok spending $50ish to be able to say, “I made my own clean and sturdy carwash pass, pretty cool, huh?”!!

Indeed! The availability of potential candidates for the job makes running the experiment a viable proposition, obviating the need for an expensive R&D project. Such an R&D project would probably run into the 10's of thousands. My wheelhouse has been making stuff that has never been made before, which has seldom been a low-cost endeavor. Good luck with your project.
