Howdy, I'm in SW Michigan. Title says it.
I'm old enough and tired enough to just want Everything I've built prototypes of to go to deserving "candidates".
If I don't, my executors will fill dumpsters with them - no time or expertise to do what I'm trying here. A shame, but I can't blame them.
Projects are microcontroller (NXP / Motorola 68HCxx08 & STM8) hardware based with assembler code running them.
A "handoff" would be hardware, software, All docs and my email addr. I want candidates to enjoy & succeed, NOT fill THEIR dumpsters!

One condition: pickup ONLY ~ 20 miles south of Kalamazoo. Shipping is WAY impractical for Several reasons.
Candidates would be serious hobbyists through seasoned pros, BUT people who live and breathe this stuff as I have for 50+ years.
Two types of items: Projects as stated, and equipment. Projects would be handed off free and clear of cost or obligation.
Equipment would also be of two types: items salable now and those to be sold by my executor, through a list of who wants to bid on what.
I'd build the list, and my executor would contact all, on my passing, to start the process that he'd manage.

Candidates would respond here, with a PM exchange thereafter.
I'll build a brief description of projects, across this week, to get first exchanges rolling.
There is no timeline to this, but starting it sooner for best chances of success.
There may not be (m)any candidates. All I've known are like me or dirt napped.

 

i am finding it interesting that nobody replied or at least indicated interest... i know that many ARE curious.
i appreciate and respect knowledge and experience... so i would love to just meet the person behind this and have a chat but since it would mean 10-12h round trip, this is not going to happen unless i have a project in the area.

is it possible to see few pictures or even partial list...?

Have you checked with your local Community College or tech school? Is there a local IEEE chapter nearby?

Yes to both, those avenues are geared towards newer tech: Object Oriented, abstraction layered hdwe, etc. They even coined what I do "bare-metal" development/projects, and they have no interest. Hadn't thought of IEEE, Thanks, I'll see.

Too much work to do a decent write up of it all without someone genuinely interested.

I didn't see this post when it first went up.

I may be interested, depending on how the various projects fit within my (very flexible) plans going forward.

I've just retired from active teaching and so have a lot of free time I can devote to pushing suitable projects forward. I would be most interesting in those projects that could be utilized in some kind of educational role, be it the project itself being useful in an educational setting, or being a reasonable demonstration project to use as a frame work for instructional videos of other topics.

I'm not particularly close to Michigan, but I could certainly make the trip if it seemed worthwhile.

Would also be interested in considering the equipment you might have for sale.

Just based on what you show here, I think there is a lot of potential to fold some of these into what I'm hoping to achieve. Would be very interested in talking further.

Howdy, I'm thinking you PM me, we exchange email addrs and start the conversation about project specifics.
I begin sending attachments of project files and you build a folder of them, decide what you want to "adopt".
I think this would take us into decent weax, where we then figure out logistics of transfer. What say you?
I'm not in any rush/deadline on this, but just letting it go on is foolish.
At my age (71) sooner or later becomes later, sooner than you think.

Post #5 has a pict of the 3 "flavors" of rotary messaging and one of the plotter.

The plotter is >36" x >60", intended to run a plasma cutter.
There's 2 sets of mechanism, 1 set of motors, drivers & interface.

One rotary is a ceiling fan with one blade having a string of RGB LEDs.
Slip rings feed power, a dual opto-coupler indexes position and determines direction and speed.
Code times rotation, senses direction and sets parameters for LED output pacing and data table as source.

Other two are a vertical "stick" of LEDs, only rotates one direction:
One is chain sync'ed to always point in one direction and indexed for a "front" and "back" arc of text.
Designed for 60-90 degree viewing
Other just points outward and slowly advances the message right to left per rotation.
Designed for 360 degree viewing

There are 4 fan type units built, one each stick types and one LARGE stick type.
